I am a Senior Partner at CRA and co-head of CRA’s Strategic Communication consulting practice and am hiring my next Research Assistant. You may learn more about CRA below. At CRA, we advise large organizations and senior leaders on how to handle their toughest institutional communication problems, and ideal candidates will have a background in the social sciences and an interest in organizational communication. An undergraduate degree is required, and I believe intellect and street-smarts count as much as, if not more than, pedigree.
This is an entry-level job in our firm with a promotion pathway to Consultant, Managing Director, and Partner roles. As my Research Assistant you will manage my calendar and scheduling, book and monitor my travel, read current books and write book summaries for distribution to the firm and our clients, and over time, receive the mentorship in writing, relational acuity, professionalism, and basic advisory skills necessary for promotion to a Consultant role. This is an up-or-out role, and promotion typically occurs after 12 months, but not always. In the event that promotion is unlikely but service is exemplary, you will exit the firm with the full support of the firm in finding your next position.
Do not underestimate this role as it is not simply an administrative job. Our practice is the best in the world in our field. As a Research Assistant you will work with the front-offices and leaders from sterling organizations including Dell, McDonald’s, Morgan Stanley, Charles Schwab, Levi Strauss, the World Bank, and the European Investment Bank. You will have a front-row view into the acquisition and execution of challenging consulting engagements, including the authoring and communication of corporate strategy, leadership transitions, acquisitions, divestitures, and all manner of institutional change. You will receive daily feedback and mentorship directly from me and your colleagues about every element of your professional capabilities, all intended to make you better and prepare you for promotion.
