Dickinson College seeks an energetic,
knowledgeable, and compassionate Director of Financial
Aid due to an upcoming retirement. The successful
candidate must have at least a bachelor’s degree (master’s
preferred) and should have at least eight years of progressive
experience in financial aid. Previous experience managing a large
institutional grant/scholarship budget is essential. Extensive
knowledge of Ellucian Banner, especially writing complex
algorithmic packaging rules, would be preferred, as would
experience using the CSS PROFILE and Institutional Methodology.
Working in a data-driven environment, the Director also should have
or be able to develop the ability to write and modify queries from
the institution’s database, and to use the resulting data to
suggest actions to enhance enrollment and net tuition revenue.
The Director of Financial Aid is a key member
of the Enrollment Management leadership team, responsible for the
accurate distribution of all federal, state and institutional
student aid programs as well as accurate and timely reporting of
all expenditures. A deep understanding of applicable laws and
regulations is required, as is the ability to interpret and
implement the rules judiciously. Must be able to communicate
effectively with students and their families from a very broad
range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and be an advocate
for first-generation and financially disadvantaged students and
applicants. A high tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to
multitask effectively will be beneficial.
The Director supervises an experienced staff of seven and will be
responsible for their on-going development, training, and
evaluation. As a need-aware institution, it is essential the
