MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist supervising physician in the care and workup of patients to include: Perform and record comprehensive history and physical examination Execute and relay medical regimens as directed by the supervising physician and/or as described in the work agreement between the physician assistant and the supervising physician Provide outpatient care in the Interventional Radiology clinic including initial consultation and follow up appointments as needed Inform the physician of all changes in the patient's ongoing condition Collect ongoing data and write pertinent notes on patient's chart on a daily basis Assess patient's post-procedural course and implement indicated therapy Make routine rounds as directed by the supervising physician Evaluate inpatient/outpatient orders.
Order labs and imaging as needed for pre/post-procedural procedures As indicated by his/her training and experience perform therapeutic procedures as directed by the supervising physician, including but not limited to the following: Paracentesis Thoracentesis Mediport removal Tunneled line removal Chest tube placement and removal Ultrasound and CT guided biopsy (head/neck, soft tissue, solid organ, intra-abdominal) Ultrasound guided venous access Assist supervising physician in procedures as needed The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the responsibility and supervision of the physician and require completion of an ARC-PA (or predecessor organization) approved physician assistant program, current NCCPA certification or eligibility and Pennsylvania State licensure.
