OVERVIEW: The Director of Development is
responsible for conceiving and implementing a comprehensive
development strategy to attain organizational fundraising goals.
Build new and expand existing relationships to develop a network of
potential donors. Create a schedule of fundraising
activities, including solicitation of individual donors, securing
financial support from corporations and foundations.
Orchestrate Partnership events that promote giving. Supervise
- Develop a fundraising plan that transforms revenue mix to
incorporate a variety of unrestricted funding and expand existing
portfolio of grants.
- Build consumer/donor relationships.
- Identify and solicit gifts from individuals.
- Identify funding opportunities within foundations and
- Plan and manage special events that boost institutional and
individual fundraising efforts.
- Develop and execute online fundraising campaigns.
- Direct Communications Manager to develop marketing and
fundraising materials aimed at increasing donations.
- Identify and cultivate existing/potential Board members with
the capacity to increase donations.
- Establish donor recognition program to ensure long-term
- Identify and maintain donor database software.
- Serve as staff liaison to Fundraising Committee of
Partnership’s Board of Trustees.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
DESIRED EDUCATION AND SKILLS:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a professional fundraiser
- Broad-based knowledge of development activities, including
software and web-based activities required.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree highly
- CFRE certification preferred.
- Creative, driven, well organized individual with enthusiasm for
building success from the ground up.
- Self-starter who thrives while working independently and sees
challenges as a welcome opportunity for problem solving.
- Contagiously enthusiastic - obtains energy from connecting with
individuals; uses social skills to build relationships.
- Emotionally mature with flexibility/sensitivity to work with
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite.
