LOCATION: We are seeking candidates for projects in the Northeast (Baltimore, Philly, New Jersey). We are looking to fill two positions to work on a Forest Inventory Analysis project with the US Forest Service. This project involves establishing randomized sample plots in MD, PA, DE, and NJ. The purpose of the project is to collect detailed information at each sample plot in order to quantify, track, and better understand the urban forest in the above-mentioned cities.
DUTIES: Taking compass and clinometer readings, tree ID, assessing crown health, crown spread, land use type, and other information on all trees within the sample plots. Works with a two-man crew to gain access to plots and record all of the required information. This position requires an attention to detail and basic understanding of forestry and forestry related equipment. Ability to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time is required. All travel expenses will be paid by ArborPro and a daily stipend for food is provided.
Preferred - ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain the certification
Preferred – Two or four year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or related field experience
Knowledge of tree species and a desire to learn
Ability to work outside, often in adverse weather conditions Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Knowledge of computers and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, etc…
Valid Driver license / Good driving record
Ability to travel and work independent of direct supervision
